Getting one dog to sit still for a picture is tough. Getting five to sit for a picture in the spots you want to them is damn near impossible. Like every dog mom on the planet, I like taking tons of pictures of my pack. Here's how I get the Dog Soup dogs to pose... Continue Reading →
Best Dog Treat Recipes – Oh Fudge.
Tuna fudge, that is. Or sometimes sardine and Parmesan cheese fudge (because my dogs like their treats extra smelly). I use this treat as a high value reward when I'm going to ask my dogs to do something really hard (like go to a trial). This treat is so easy to make and you can... Continue Reading →
How I Almost Burned (Out) My Dog.
But in December we had a really awkward trial where he seemed over faced, an emotion/state of mind he very rarely gives in to. We were able to make lemonade out of lemons that day and at the end of the day he still left feeling pretty OK about the whole thing, but I was concerned ("concerned" in this context meaning freaked out because I thought I was ruining/had already ruined my dog).

Thankful
This year we have so many things to be thankful for. Sioux and Ernie arrived. We discovered nose work and Roo competed in (and won a few classes!) his very first trial. Bam became our new cousin/nephew and Charlie officially became our new uncle/brother-in-law. I am so very thankful for my family and for my dogs!

How could any cat top that? But a cat-free home wasn't in the cards for us. A few weeks ago my... Continue Reading →
Lost and Found
Last week was a hell of a week. On Sunday we had to say goodbye to my beloved Joe. It was sudden, expected, and made my heart hurt. His passing was, however, peaceful and he was surrounded by the people who love him most. The whole house grieved. Bella and Roo took his passing the... Continue Reading →
Pitbulls Aren’t for Everyone.
Rescuing a pit from a shelter isn't really rescuing if you're going to return them in three months, six months, a year, 5 years, or even ten years because they have physical ailments or behavioral challenges.
Where has all the summer gone?
This summer has flown by. We've spent a fair amount of time at the pool learning to swim. We spent even more time hiking and discovering new spots. Sioux has finally gotten to a point where we can start comp. obedience class. To say I'm excited is the understatement of the century. I SO hope... Continue Reading →
